Sound of the Day (10/29): School Is Cool - The World Is Gonna End Tonight

A great discovery at La Cigale on 10/21 for MaMA Festival. This new band from Belgium has a great potential in the coming months with songs offering a contrast of sad to deadly wordings with very happy and constructed melodies including violine. And you know what: they are smart on stage, very visual. I bet on them !! School is cool are coool :)

Sound of the Day (10/25): Hanni El Khatib - Dead Wrong

First Sound of the Day: Hanni El Khatib with "Dead Wrong"
A curious but great blues-rock from California: both old fashioned and post modern :)

Blog's Evolution

It's Rockin' series has now reached the 30th volume, advertising 801 songs (!!!). Series have grown and got beyond initial It's Rockin' and Still Rockin': best of decades, special series covering time (1968), locations (California, upcoming New-York and Manchester), styles (Africa, 90s Dance, Psych-Rock, upcoming HipHop, Funk and Reggae), and special specials (bastard rock a.k.a. bootlegs, covers, cartes blanches, etc.). The time has now come to evolve.

La Villa Recordings is changing format today!

Going forward, in addition to the release of compilations' tracklists (including almost monthly It's Rockin'), I will share with you the SOUND OF THE DAY... on a daily basis - the intent is clearly to make this blog more dynamic and attractive :) Again & again, I encorage all comments, tweets and suggestions !

The SOUND OF THE DAY will be just whatever... sound of tomorrow, today or yesterday, just based on temper, feeling...

As much as time allows, I will also try to write and publish some LP / EP REVIEWS: short but crispy, with one or two must-hear songs. I'm not targetting being the new Pitchfork or MagicRPM, just trying to share what I feel are the must-have or must-hear releases.

Thanks for your support !
